Displaced persons

Convention refugees and other displaced persons may apply for refugee protection upon arrival at any Canadian port of entry or while in Canada. Refugees may also be referred to Canada by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees or an approved private sponsor. After a formal board hearing, an applicant may be granted refugee protection and obtain a permanent resident visa.
